Ivanti Neurons Review
Our Score: 6.6/10 · G2: 4.0/5 (50 reviews)
Ivanti Neurons positions itself as an enterprise-grade patch management platform built around risk-based prioritization. It’s a capable but polarizing choice: the technology is strong, the business relationship less so.
Who It’s For
If you’re a large enterprise wrestling with patch backlogs across thousands of endpoints, Neurons makes a legitimate case. The risk-based prioritization is the headline feature and the reason to look here.
Smaller shops should walk away—the complexity and quote-only pricing aren’t worth it at that scale.
What Stands Out
| Feature | Assessment |
|---|---|
| Risk-based patch prioritization | The core differentiator; genuinely useful at scale |
| OS + third-party patching | Broad coverage beyond just Windows updates |
| Patch intelligence / SLA data | Helps justify remediation timelines to leadership |
| Hyperautomation | Reduces manual toil across large fleets |
The prioritization engine is the reason to buy this. Instead of drowning in a CVE firehose, you get patches ranked by actual exploitability and business risk.
The Catch
Two words: Ivanti’s security track record. Buying a security tool from a vendor with “notable CVEs” in its own products is an uncomfortable irony you can’t ignore. Do your own due diligence on the vendor’s recent advisories before committing.
Beyond that:
- Quote-only pricing — no transparency, no free tier, expect a sales cycle
- Enterprise complexity — this is not a set-it-and-forget-it tool
- Cost — assume enterprise-tier budgeting
Deployment
Both cloud and on-prem are supported, which is a real advantage for regulated industries or organizations with hybrid constraints.
Verdict
Neurons is a strong product from a vendor that gives pause. The 6.6 reflects exactly that tension: excellent prioritization and scale, undercut by pricing opacity and legitimate concerns about the vendor’s own security hygiene.
Buy it if you’re a large enterprise that needs risk-based patching and can tolerate a heavyweight commercial relationship. Skip it if you want transparent pricing, run a smaller environment, or the vendor’s CVE history is a dealbreaker for your risk posture.
Bottom line: great engine, do the vendor due diligence first.
